affraid WHOA! That's a lot of lost jobs.

I wonder if this is a sign that the publishing industry in general isn't doing well or if it's just Borders. Maybe it's just that online sales are doing better than brick-and-mortar stores, and it doesn't have anything to do with the declining publishing industry.

I need to find out more about this.

Our introductory *hiccupcricketal* post in our companion blog ( landed in excellent company this week by comparing the shift in the publishing industry to a "hiccup." Check out the comment by Christopher John Farley, "senior editor of Speakeasy, the Wall Street Journal’s culture Web site": 

"I don’t think the Borders bankruptcy is an indication that reading is dying–it’s really a sign that reading is changing. The recording industry faced a similar shift. People hadn’t fallen out of love with music — they just wanted it in other forms."
